Groups & Communities on iOS

Create and manage your pickleball community using the Nice Play iOS app.

What are Groups?

Groups are your private communities within Nice Play. They're where your club, league, or friend group organizes games, shares updates, and stays connected.

Groups are perfect for:

  • Local pickleball clubs and organizations
  • Competitive leagues and teams
  • Casual friend groups who play regularly
  • Apartment/HOA communities
  • Tournament organizers

Creating a Group

Anyone can create a group. It only takes a minute to get started.

Step-by-step:

  1. Tap the Groups tab at the bottom of the screen
  2. Tap "Create Group" button in the top right
  3. Enter a name - Make it clear what the group is for
  4. Add a description - Explain who should join and what to expect
  5. Upload a photo (optional) - A logo or group photo
  6. Tap "Create" - Your group is ready!

Pro tip:

Choose a descriptive name that includes your location or organization. "Seattle North Pickleball Club" is better than just "Pickleball Group".

Inviting Members

Every group gets a unique join code that members use to join on their iOS device.

Finding your join code:

  1. Open your group
  2. Tap the Settings icon (gear) in the top right
  3. Your join code is displayed at the top
  4. Tap to copy it to share

Ways to share your join code:

  • • Text or email it to potential members
  • • Post it on social media
  • • Include it in newsletters or flyers
  • • Share at the courts verbally

Members join by:

  1. Opening the Nice Play iOS app
  2. Tapping Groups tab → "Join Group"
  3. Entering the join code
  4. Tapping "Join" to become a member

Managing Your Group

Group admins have tools to manage members and settings.

Admin Roles:

  • Creator/Owner: Full control over the group, can't be removed
  • Admin: Can manage members and edit group settings
  • Member: Can view and participate but not manage

What admins can do:

  • • Remove members from the group
  • • Promote members to admin
  • • Edit group name, description, and photo
  • • Regenerate the join code (if compromised)
  • • Delete the group (owner only)

To manage members:

  1. Open your group
  2. Tap Settings (gear icon)
  3. Scroll to "Members" section
  4. Tap on any member to promote or remove them

Use the group description to explain skill levels, fees, rules, and what members should expect.

👥 Promote trusted admins

Share the workload by promoting active, responsible members to admin.

📅 Keep events consistent

Regular weekly games? Schedule them in advance so members can plan ahead.

💬 Stay engaged
