Creating Events on iOS

Learn how to organize games and manage attendance using the Nice Play iOS app.

Creating Your First Event

Tap the green + button at the bottom of your screen to create a new event.

Required Information:

  • Event Name: Give your game a clear, descriptive title
  • Date & Time: When your game will take place
  • Location: Choose a saved court or enter a custom address
  • Group: Select which group this event belongs to

Optional Settings:

  • Description: Add details about skill level, format, what to bring
  • Max Players: Set a cap on attendance
  • Public/Private: Choose who can see and join your event
  • Duration: How long the game will last

Public vs Private Events

Public Events

  • • Visible to all group members
  • • Anyone in the group can join
  • • Great for open play sessions
  • • Appears on the group feed

Private Events

  • • Only visible to invited players
  • • You control who can attend
  • • Perfect for organized leagues
  • • Send invites from the event page

Managing Attendance

Tap on your event from the Home tab to manage attendees and invites.

Inviting Players (Private Events):

  1. Open your event
  2. Tap "Invite" button
  3. Select players from your group
  4. They'll get a notification to accept or decline

Managing the Roster:

  • • View who's joined or declined
  • • Remove players if needed (event creator only)
  • • See the player count update in real-time
  • • Add guest players who aren't in your group

Choosing a Location

Use saved locations for consistency, or enter a custom address.

Tips for locations:

  • Save frequently used courts to quickly create events
  • Include court numbers or specific details in the description
  • Players can tap the location to get directions in Maps
  • Use the search to find nearby courts and parks

Editing & Canceling Events

Need to make changes? Open your event and tap the menu (•••) in the top right.

What You Can Edit:

  • • Event name and description
  • • Date and time
  • • Location
  • • Max player count
  • • Public/private setting

Canceling Events:

  • • Tap menu (•••) → Delete Event
  • • All attendees get notified
  • • Can't be undone
  • • Consider editing instead if it's just a time change

Best Practices for Organizers

📅 Schedule in advance

Post events at least 24-48 hours ahead to give players time to RSVP

📝 Be specific in descriptions

Include skill level, game format, and what players should bring

💬 Use event comments

Post updates or answer questions in the event's comment section

🏆 Run round robins

Convert events to tournaments for competitive play with balanced matchups
